We share on-call duties via a schedule for our first time clients, just like your midwife or OB practice does. Each of doulas attends the group prenatal meetings, so you have lots of time to know all of us, and feel comfortable with each of us. For labor and birth contact the weekly designated doula, and that person will help with phone and text support until it's time to head to the hospital, at which point the On-Call Doula will join you at home or as you arrive at the hospital. A Doula from our group will be with you throughout your labor, the birth of your baby and at least one hour postpartum to help with initial breastfeeding. In the case of a very long birth, for our safety, replacement doulas will come in to provide relief and a fresh perspective, usually around the 12 hours mark. We always do a slow shift transition, and we never change shifts if birth is imminent. The goal is always that the doula that is with you is well rested, fed, and fully available to support you in labor. This team setting helps us to live a balanced life (not missing our kids activities, etc), and allows us to be fully present when we are with you. We never have to call in back-up you don't know, even in cases of illness or emergency in the doula's life.
Our fee is currently $1000-1200 pay what you wish (sliding scales available for military and Medicaid/WIC families) for birth doula support. A deposit is due at the time of contract and the remainder of the balance is due before 38 weeks and payment plans can be arranged. View our contract for more details

Unlimited Prenatal Meetups
“Many cultures have a long tradition of discussing important issues of common concern in groups, circles or meetings. Shared problems often lead to shared solutions, creating bonds and common histories between individuals and ultimately communities."
“Strong community networks are vital for childbearing women. These can be developed and strengthened through group prenatal programs.” -Women and Health Initiative | Maternal Health Task Force Harvard School of Public Health May 2014
Much like the Centering Model of Care for Pregnancy or Parenting, our Doula partners offer group prenatal meetings twice a month with all of our doula clients. Allowing for shared experiences, anxieties and questions to be addressed and discussed in a group setting creates a more normalized and mindful experience of pregnancy and the postpartum period. Group prenatal circles allow for sharing of evidence based care, support and encourangement by group members and doula leaders. These sessions are attended by only our group doula clients, and there will be a time to meet privately with one or more of us if you need or want on any visit. Our meetings rotate topics consisting of:
Active Birth Options
Your Birth Preferences planning
Navigating the Hospital System and Common Interventions
Advanced Comfort Measures
You and your partner are able to attend as many group prenatal visits as you’d like, but these DO NOT in any way replace childbirth education classes or workshops, but they provide a lot more contact hours with your doulas than a solo doula could provide. These are a great way for families to build community and support for their birth and parenting choices and for us to be able to spend more time with you and your partner (and for you to meet our backup doulas) than the traditional two prenatal meetings utilized in most individual doula practices. We rerquire you come to at least 2 of the prenatals so we can see you before your birth.
Who Are We?
I have been a doula since 2013. I am a ToLabor trained professional birth doula, A GentleBirth Certified Instructor, and a Hypnobabies® Childbirth Hypnosis Doula with additional workshop experience using Spinning Babies. It's most important to me that we help you find the providers that regularly offer the kind of birth you are hoping to have in a respectful and low risk environment. It is not my birth or baby, so I will support any birth goals, whether it's unmedicated or planned c-section.
From my own birth experiences and many others I've attended, I've discovered that partners also need special care and support during their birth experience as well. Birth can be very emotional and physically exhausting for both partners. I help facilitate partner self-care and help partners better support their labor. My job in no way replaces a partner, unless that is specifically needed, but enhances the couple's ability to bond in labor, which facilitates labor hormones. As a team we will create a safe environment for a person to labor, while the partner engages with Primary Care Providers.
I am an artist/mother/birthkeeper living and working out of my home in Providence, Rhode Island. I married John in 2010, gave birth to our small son, Gideon in 2012 in Portland, OR. We picked up and moved across the country the next year to experience a new city. Page was born in 2014. Esther joined the party in 2016. Motherhood is the most profound adventure I could have ever imagined.
My passion for the birthing process began after my own pregnancies and deliveries. Gideon has taught me endurance and patience, since the day he was born. Page was diagnosed with hydrocephalus when I was 19 weeks pregnant. She is by all definitions a miracle baby and is a gift to everyone who knows her. From conception, Esther has always surprised us.
These experiences inspired me to serve women in their full transition to motherhood. I want to give women and their partners the support they need to make informed decisions, with compassion and respect. View Susie's website here.
The transition to motherhood, for the 1st time or the 5th time, is an incredible transformation. As a birth and postpartum doula I work with the mother and her family to support that transition and to facilitate bonding with the new baby. My mission as a birth and postpartum doula is to provide non-biased, evidence-based support through pregnancy and beyond.
Prior to my doula training I received a master's degree in clinical psychology. When I worked as a therapist I sought to provide my clients with skills they could utilize outside of my office. As a doula, I seek to support my clients through birth and postpartum so that they can confidently make decisions best suited to their wishes. I honed my research skills in graduate school and I keep those skills sharp by staying up-to-date on current best-practices for birth, postpartum and infant care. My doula practice aims to nurture, educate and empower families as they transition to parenthood. In my free time I enjoy spending time at the beach with my children, running races in support of Every Mother Counts and reading lots and lots of books. View Lauren's DoulaMatch Profile here!
I am a DONA trained Birth Doula. Whether it be her work for an international adoption agency in Boston, volunteering in both a pediatric unit and domestic violence shelter in Florida or caring for little ones as a nanny throughout her life, I have always enjoyed spending time surrounded by children and families. I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Child Psychology & Sociology from Flagler College and am an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance. When the weather warms, you may find me amongst the vibrant flowers designing window boxes and container gardens for commercial and residential customers throughout South County. We have been blessed with three beautiful sons who have helped to shape the past eighteen years of my life and fill my heart with love.
I feel it is an honor and a privilege to be invited to share in such a sacred milestone and gently hold the space for mothers and their partners before, during and shortly after childbirth ensuring the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible as they welcome a sweet new life into the world.
